About the Program
The term “underdogs” was modified to “underdocs” to reflect underrepresented pre-meds and medical students. While many mentorship programs are available for pre-medical and medical students, few are dedicated to students from underrepresented groups. Lack of shared experiences, relatable mentors, resources, and institutional support are common barriers to representation of underrepresented groups in the physician workforce.
Our program is dedicated to mentoring underrepresented pre-meds and medical students. Our program, including any associated resources and services, is completely free to our students. Through a personalized matching process, we connect mentees to like-minded mentors who share a common experience to ensure that mentors and mentees can relate to one another. Our mentors are also able to provide more structured mentoring to meet the needs of the mentee. Every quarter, we hold Excellence Awards to recognize mentees and mentors who have demonstrated outstanding work.
Our Mission
To empower pre-med & medical students from underrepresented groups to thrive as future physicians through strong mentoring relationships that are enduring and personal.
Our Vision
We are committed to serving as an accessible resource for underrepresented students in this program. We hope this program will be a small step towards increasing diversifying the physician workforce with those from underrepresented groups.
