Application Process
Due to the high number of mentees, applications will close once our maximum capacity has been reached, which varies every quarter based on the current pool of mentors available. Mentee applications typically open quarterly, or every 3 months. Mentor applications remain open in order to maintain a pool of available mentors for upcoming mentees. Matches are typically sent out within 2-3 weeks of mentee application submissions.
Matching Process
Currently, we do not use an algorithm. The matching process is completely individualized. Our team personally reads every mentor and mentee application and matches are then created. The quality of the match is deeply important to us and a distinguishing aspect of our program. We prioritized are the mentee’s description of an ideal mentor, shared underrepresented group (unless otherwise stated), and mentor skills and mentee needs.
Matches will typically be sent out within 2-3 weeks. Mentors are typically matched to 1-2 mentees and each mentee will only have 1 mentor. Mentors and mentees are encouraged to inform the team immediately if a match was not optimized sufficiently or if any other concerns arise.
